Job Description

Labcorp is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Pre-Authorization Specialist to join its remote finance team. You'll play a vital role in ensuring insurance approvals and accurate patient billing, helping support life-changing healthcare breakthroughs. This full-time, work-from-home role is perfect for someone with prior insurance, billing, or pre-auth experience in the healthcare space.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical policies via payer portals or Policy Reporter
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage with health plans
  • Deliver accurate patient cost estimates
  • Initiate and track prior authorizations
  • Manage communication with patients, providers, and payers
  • Document all activities in the pre-auth platform
  • Request and follow up on missing information
  • Prioritize tasks based on urgency and volume
  • Provide timely updates on authorization status
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualification

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance claims, pre-authorization, or medical benefits
  • Prior Labcorp RCM experience (LCLS or LCBS) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities
  • Basic math proficiency (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
